Why we need Calibration?

Calibration is crucial in ensuring the accuracy of measuring instruments and equipment. It is recommended that all instruments undergo calibration annually, with some, like the coating thickness tester (DFT), being checked per shift. Radiographic films, for instance, are automatically calibrated using Image Quality Indicators (IQI) to maintain film quality.

If a measuring instrument is discovered to be uncalibrated, all readings taken since the last calibration must be remeasured. It is essential to always verify the calibration certificate of any measuring equipment before interpreting results. This step serves as a form of data validation, ensuring that correct and accurate results are obtained before drawing any conclusions. Calibration plays a vital role in guaranteeing the reliability and precision of measurement outcomes.
