How Does API Verify Your Work Experience?
As part of the application process, API verifies the work experience claimed in your certification application.
After you submit your application, API sends an experience verification request by email to two professional references nominated by you. Each reference receives a secure link to an online questionnaire where they are asked to verify your employment history and the inspection experience you have claimed.
Who Can Be Your Reference?
Your references should be individuals who are familiar with your professional experience, such as:
- Your line manager
- Your supervisor
- A manager within your organization
- A representative from your Human Resources department
Your references must use their official business email addresses when responding. Personal email accounts such as Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, or similar services are generally not accepted for experience verification.
What Is Verified?
The questionnaire asks your references to confirm details such as:
- Your employment history
- The inspection or engineering disciplines in which you have worked
- The duration of your relevant experience
- The type of work you have performed
API compares this information with the experience you declared in your application to determine whether you meet the eligibility requirements for the certification.
Tips for a Smooth Verification Process
To help avoid delays or discrepancies, we recommend that you:
- Inform your references in advance that they will receive an email from API.
- Explain which inspection disciplines and periods of experience you have claimed.
- Encourage them to complete the verification promptly.
- If possible, review your submitted experience with your references before they respond so that the information provided is accurate and consistent.
Careful preparation of your application and coordination with your references can help ensure a smooth verification process and reduce the likelihood of delays in obtaining your API examination authorization.
