It is equally important to become familiar with the PDF versions of the API codes and recommended practices.

During the actual API examination, reference documents are provided electronically. Navigating a PDF is a different experience from using a printed code, and candidates should practise using the electronic format well before the exam.

It is important to note that the search function is disabled during the open-book portion of the API examination. As a result, you cannot rely on keyword searches to locate information. Instead, you must know the structure of each code and quickly navigate to the relevant section.
