1- Each new application is valid for a period of 12 months from the date of the first exam date requested by the applicant. After the 12-month period the application will expire, regardless of the number of exams scheduled or taken.

This means, if you have registered for API Inspector Exam, you have one year from the 3 weeks exam window selected to pass the exam. This means you can attempt a maximum of 4 consecutive exam windows.

2- If you fail to schedule an exam appointment for your selected testing window, you will need to submit another application, and additional fees will apply.

This means, once you selected the 3 weeks exam window, you are only allowed to change the exam date within the same window subject to availability. If you wish to change the exam window, this means rescheduling and you need to pay a fee, the same fee as when you failed and want to do a re-exam. Therefore, even if you are not ready, attend the exam. chances are you may pass or atleast gain experience because you already paid for it.
